10 Years A Pattern!!!

The year 2013 marks the ten year anniversary of the creation of a pattern which has lived within my art.  The pattern is not only a symbol of hard work and determination, but a celebration of life, nature, up close or from a far, where the process of creating collides with a spiritual and meditative goal.  It is a way of life, a discipline, a place of peace and contemplation.  It is a creation of depth, space and motion, simple and complex, like a song or the silence between beats of a drum.

The work titled, LA to TN to MS to LA to TX to FL to LA to AL to MS to AL to MS to LA, created in 2003, remains a major symbol of the dawn of the “Peter Barnitz Pattern”.  It was one of my first and favorite larger scale patterns, which was drawn through many hours traveling on a bus from state to state, basketball game to basketball game, with a ball point pen on a raw sheet of canvas.

Since 2003, the pattern is alive and well and does not plan on fading out anytime soon.  New strands of the pattern have opened up new doors in development and experimentation of the geometric web of life and art.  Be on the lookout for many more creations.
